Sunday 8 May : Paphos

Awake to the sound of the sea and twittering of sparrows in the Palm trees below and we thenhead down to breakfast. Rather worrying amount of children and English...we soon find the child free infinity pool area and enjoy some solitary swimming and crashing out in the sun. I'm reading Robert Harris' Imperium, the first of his trilogy about Cicero. The Latin names get a bit confusing after a while!  We toast our winter bleached bodies in the sun for probably longer than we should and then cycle off to visit the mosaics, which are very impressive. Scenes of Piramus and Thisbe and Dionysus and Icarus...quite a contrast with modern Paphos town, which seems very touristy. We spot a potential place for supper on our return which looks authentically Cypriot rather than authentically touristy.
